Winter Activities
At Arctic Retreat our winter activities are generally available from mid December through to early April. Across the winter the amount of light, the temperature and the amount of snow and ice varies considerably and each month has its own unique characteristics.
From December and through most of February it is quite dark in the afternoons and we recommend a maximum of one guided activity each day. It is possible to have more than one guided activity in March and early April but don’t forget to allow time each day to relax and enjoy the tranquility of the retreat and the nature that surrounds us.
Guests are also most welcome to try our explorer program and use our snowshoes, fat bikes or cross country skis around the retreat if you feel you need any extra motion in nature in the afternoon or evenings. Winter activities will include fika (coffee/tea and a snack) and/or lunch and this is noted in the descriptions. All our activities are private and as such there is a minimum cost of 2 people.

In the Summer and Autumn there is a fantastic range of guided activities from Arctic Retreat. They are all led by our local activity partners who live close by and provide a very high level of service, professionalism and importantly fun.
The activities have a cost per person and are private for the prices shown. We recommend that you plan a maximum of one of these each day you are staying to ensure you also have plenty of time to enjoy life at the Retreat. Longer activities during the day include lunch or fika. Fika being the ritual Swedish version of morning or afternoon tea.
If you are experienced in nature you are also welcome to choose our Explorer program and use our fat-bikes, canoes or fishing equipment while you are with us. Explore the wilderness around Arctic Retreat on your own. Enjoy the beauty of the scenery, the tranquility of the forest, come into harmony with our nature and perhaps even see some of the local wildlife. Your host will show you how to use the fat bikes, canoes and fishing equipment as well as provide you with information about the local hiking trails. All our activities are private and as such there is a minimum cost of 2 people.
