Sami Cuisine and Storytelling
Fireside Sami Dinner
Gather by the fireplace at Arctic Retreat for an intimate and deeply atmospheric evening in the company of your Sámi host, Lennart Pittja. This 2.5-hour experience is more than a dinner—it is a journey into the living culture of Sápmi, where food, storytelling, and connection to the land come together.
As the fire crackles and the northern landscape settles into stillness outside, you’ll be served a thoughtfully prepared three-course meal inspired by the natural larder of Sápmi—wild flavours drawn from forest, rivers, and the traditions of reindeer herding. Each dish reflects the seasons and the deep relationship between the Sámi people and their environment, offering a taste of something both authentic and meaningful.
Between courses, Lennart shares stories that bring Sámi culture to life—stories of the land, the reindeer, and a way of living that has endured for generations. With warmth and openness, he speaks about both past and present, offering personal insight into identity, tradition, and the balance between heritage and modern life.
The setting, the flavours, and the conversation create a rare sense of closeness—an experience that feels genuine, respectful, and unfiltered. This is not a performance, but an invitation to listen, learn, and connect.
Blending culinary experience with cultural understanding, this fireside evening offers a truly immersive insight into Sámi life—one that lingers long after the last course is served.
