Summer and Autumn Experiences
If you are experienced in nature you are also welcome to choose our Explorer program and use our fat-bikes, canoes or fishing equipment while you are with us. Explore the wilderness around Arctic Retreat on your own. Enjoy the beauty of the scenery, the tranquility of the forest, come into harmony with our nature and perhaps even see some of the local wildlife. Your host will show you how to use the fat bikes, canoes and fishing equipment as well as provide you with information about the local hiking trails. All our activities are private and as such there is a minimum cost of 2 people.
Reconnect to Nature
Guided Canoeing
Starting close to your cabin you will learn to paddle a canoe with our guide and then explore the quiet and peaceful places along the river. There are good chances of seeing local wildlife such as birds, moose, beaver and maybe even reindeer as you glide peacefully along. Your guide will help find a beautiful scenery along the way in our amazing nature. Duration 4 hours including a light lunch.
Guided Fishing
Fishing is fun for the whole family and a great way to explore the the local nature. In our beautiful river and nearby lakes we have a range of fish including Pike, Grayling, Perch and even Salmon. We head out in our small fishing boat or along the shore and find great places to fish. We fish using lures and your guide will have tips on which ones to use. Duration 4 hours including a light lunch.
Guided Hiking/Walking
Enjoy a walk or hike through the beautiful arctic forest that surrounds the Arctic Retreat. We will of course tailor the journey to your fitness and experience with the aim being to enjoy and learn more about our wonderful nature. The terrain is undulating and you will see the deep forest as well as great some views. We recommend to take your camera to take home some wonderful memories. Duration 4 hours with a light lunch.

Hiking with Huskies
Arctic Retreat is happy to offer a forest walk with a local husky kennel. This is a hands on experience where you can interact with the huskies and learn about the year round life and their adaption to the arctic climate. Your guide / musher will give you an insight into the forest and the special training required to manage a small pack of adorable huskies. Duration 3 hours including a light lunch.
Autumn Husky Tour
In the Autumn the serious training of the huskies begins prior to the winter season. The temperatures are cooling and the huskies are looking forward to to getting on the road again. You will sit on and/or drive the special training carts though the beautiful autumn forest landscape. Meet the dogs and puppies and enjoy an outdoor bbq lunch with your hosts. Available from 1 sep to 30 nov.
Guided Fat Bike Forest Trails
To explore great distances in our beautiful nature we recommend a fat bike ride. We have lots of trails locally and along the RĂ¥ne river valley. Fat bike are challenging but a great way to cover lots of different terrain including sand, undergrowth, rocks and rough trails. Included: Fat bike, helmet, guide. Duration 4 hours with a light lunch.

Visit a Sami Family
The Sami Culture is fascinating and on this outing we will visit a local Sami family. They will introduce you to their family reindeers and tell stories about the Sami life from an historic perspective and well as explain how life is today for the Sami people in the forests of Sapmi. Duration 4 hours with a light lunch.
Flavours of the 8 seasons
A unique experience of the regions nature and culture through a very personal, informative and entertaining way with local food and culture connoisseur Eva Gunnare from Essense of Lapland. Through stories, songs and exciting taste sensations you get to know Swedish Lapland. You will also learn how local people for centuries have used wild ingredients throughout our year of 8 seasons. Parts of this experience will be held outdoors and parts indoors, most often as a precursor to dinner or lunch. Duration 2.5 hours.
Swedish Baking
Join our chef and learn to bake in our kitchen the Swedish way. Learn the secrets to making the incredible Swedish Cinnamon buns that are often enjoyed with coffee or tea and called Fika. Duration 1.5 hours. Suitable for all ages.
Autumn Auroras
Guided Aurora Nature Tour
We are blessed in Arctic Sweden to have the chance to view the Northern lights / Aurora-Borealis from late August, when the darkness starts to return, through to late March. There is no guarantee of course that they will be out when you are staying with us but our nature guide will take you to a location where we have the best chances of seeing them on the night. With or without the northern lights you have a fun and interesting evening. Duration 3 hours including fika. From 28 Aug.
Northern Lights Photography
Our professional photographer will pick you up and take up on a northern lights photography tour. You will travel to the best locations on the night, within s short drive or so from the retreat to find and learn how to photograph this amazing phenomena. You will need to bring your own camera, with manual settings, tripod and memory cards. Duration 3 hours including Fika. Coffee/Tea and cake. From 28 Aug.
Body Reconnect
Massage
Enjoy a classic Swedish massage combined with optional treatments. For privacy the masseuse will set up the massage table in your cabin. When one person is having a massage, the other person can relax on a heated pad or in the jacuzzi before getting the massage. Duration: 60 min massage per person.

Enjoy the beauty of the scenery, the tranquility of the forest, come into harmony with our nature and perhaps even see some of the local wildlife. Our guides will show you how to use the fat bikes, canoes and fishing equipment as well as provide you with information about the local hiking trails and picnic spots. They will also give you some basic wilderness skills information and safety equipment and tips so you can really enjoy the fantastic nature around Arctic Retreat in your own time.
Includes:
Half day use of fat bikes
Half day use of canoes (2 per canoe)
Fishing rods and lures for use during your stay
Picnic basket on one day to take on a hike in the surrounding nature.
